PermaCarbTMPermaCarbTMs are natural glycosylation groups resistant to enzymatic degradation. It involves a single atom change to the sugar molecule that is then no longer a substrate for glycosidases. A novel process has been designed and patented for altering the sugar structure and this also covers the altered sugar products. When PermaCarbTMs are attached using PermaLinkTM, glycoproteins possess a homogenous stable glycoform thus enhancing half life in blood. This potentially reduces quantity and frequency of dose, thus enhancing patient quality of life and lowering cost.
- PermaCarbTM's are novel glycosylation groups resistant to enzymatic degradation by exo-glycosidases (during production and in vivo)
- Glycans can be added synthetically to modify protein function: such as improved plasma half-life, enhanced efficacy and solubility
- Can be used in combination with PermalinkTM for stable attachment to proteins and peptides at defined locations
- Wide range of endogenous glycosylation patterns are available
Flexibility and ControlSynthesis of the carbohydrate prior to conjugation assures homogeneity and efficiency.Engineered ResistanceUnique ability to introduce resistance to enzymatic degradation ensuring maximum benefit from glycosylation is conferred to the therapeutic.
